Keep Your Health In Check With The Right Mattress

The many benefits of sleep are known but often out of mind. It’s easy to lose sleep, thinking it can be regained the following night. People who lack sleep could be seen having less attention during meetings and other important events of the day. With people constantly choosing to forego sleep, its benefits are taken more for granted.

People who have lifestyle diseases are usually told to get more sleep at night. Prevention is better than cure. If a person isn’t suffering from any lifestyle disease, now could be a good time to sleep earlier and longer. Sleeping for fewer than 6 hours could put an individual at risk of heart attack, stroke, and other diseases, if he does it all the time. Experts would agree that a person who sleeps better lives better.

Diabetes, stroke, heart attack, arthritis, and premature aging are all linked to inflammation. Having higher blood levels of inflammatory proteins can be caused by lack of sleep. Maintaining an ideal weight could be a lot easier when one’s sleeping habits are routinized and healthy. The same hormones that drive metabolism are also the ones in charge of a good night’s rest. Sleeping better reduces stress and keeps a person alert, giving him less chances of getting involved in accidents during waking hours.

While one’s physical health could be receiving attention, mental and emotional health can be forsaken. Proper sleep could prevent depression. Finding balance in sleep gives less or even no room for anxiety and depression. If one desires to have emotional stability, he must learn how to sleep soundly.

Sleeping in the same position may cause an individual to wake up in the middle of night. Some even find it hard to get back to sleep once it has been interrupted.

Comfort in the sleeper’s preferred sleeping position is a job for mattresses. A mattress that forms into the person’s body provides long-lasting comfort, and with proper air circulation, also distributes to the sleeper the maximum benefits of a good night’s rest. An uninterrupted sleep is what everyone needs to stay physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy.

The Link Between Snoring And Your Mattress

Almost half of adults snore occasionally, while about a quarter snore habitually. This habit can interrupt not just the snorer’s sleep but also that of bed companions and roommates. It is then important to address the habit of snoring.

The mattress can have a connection with nighttime snores. Snoring is the result of the airway becoming partially obstructed during sleep, typically because the reclined position causes the tissue in the throat to sag and makes one’s breath rumble past with noise.

Note, though, that this can be exacerbated if the head is not properly supported during rest – the lower jaw lolls open and further obstructs the airway. This way, the sound starts and even possibly gets louder. The bad news is if one’s mattress isn’t sufficiently supporting the curve of the back and neck, it could be contributing to or causing the snoring.

There are several ways to manage snoring, including staying within a healthy weight range and changing one’s sleep position, where sleeping on one’s back can be a potential cause of snoring. Snoring can also be reduced by elevating the head, which allows easier breathing and more peaceful sleep. Talk to the doctor, too, as snoring can also be a symptom of medical conditions such as sleep apnea.

It makes sense to pay good attention to one’s mattress as well, since many hours a day are spent sleeping and sleep quality should never be compromised.
